The city council has approved the money for 19 surveillance devices across the city to try to cut crime.
Eight of the cameras will go up in Sneinton, where a police dispersal order has been in place for the past month because of anti-social behaviour.
Other camera locations will include Flamstead Road in Broxtowe, Robin Hood Chase in St Ann's and Thurland Street in the city centre.
